Why am I breaking out more in the summer?

Don’t wait! Cleanse ASAP after these summer activities for clear skin…

If you suffer from acne, you might have noticed the condition worsening in the summer, but why?

☀️🏃‍♀️🏝 SUMMER SWEAT, HEAT, AND DIRT/ DEBRIS…

Acne is caused when the pores on the skin (called comedones) produce excess oil, or sebum. This sebum mixes with sweat, dirt, and dead skin cells and ultimately becomes trapped in the pore itself.

Because summer temperatures are warmer, excess sweat and oil is more common this time of year.

Practice thorough, gentle cleansing after exposing your skin to:
• sand
• humidity/ heat
• dirt
• saltwater
• bacteria
• chlorine
• smoke
• pollution or poor quality air, as you might be exposing yourself to irritants that could cause breakouts.

Lastly, be aware of heavy, water-resistant or oil-based SPFs that tend to be comedogenic, meaning that they can clog your pores.

I recommend dry skin types reach for Un-Dew, and normal to oily skin types opt for Lo-Foam in the day time, and a signature double cleanse at night. If you know you’ll be sweating or engaging in activities like this throughout the day, consider splitting up your double cleanse directly after the activity, and again at night before bed if needed.

My cleansers are made with a skin-like pH that is ideal for a scenario where you need to cleanse more than once or twice a day! All the benefits of being clean, without the compromise.
